Prado Museum opening hours
The Prado Museum is open all days except some holidays. From Monday to Saturday, it is open from 10 am to 8 pm. On Sundays and other holidays, it is open from 10 am to 7 pm. The museum is closed on the 1st of January, the 1st of May, and the 25th of December.
Entry instructions

- After arriving at the museum, you will be asked to show your ticket. You can show both a printed ticket and a digital ticket at the entrance.

Location of the Prado Museum
The Prado Museum is located at Paseo del Prado, s/n, 28014 Madrid, Spain. There are two main entrances to the museum:
- Puerta de Goya: located on Calle Felipe IV s/n, this entrance is used for visiting the permanent collection. It is also where the ticket office is located.
Puerta de Jerónimos: also on Calle Felipe IV s/n, this entrance provides access to both the temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection. It offers preferential access for people with reduced mobility, visitors with strollers, ICOM members, FAMP members, and American Friends of the Prado.
How to arrive to the Prado Museum
The Prado Museum is centrally located on Paseo del Prado, one of Madrid’s most important boulevards. Thanks to its prime location, getting there is quick and easy.
- By Metro: The closest station is Banco de España (Line 2), just a 5-minute walk from the museum. Atocha (Line 1) is also nearby and convenient if you’re arriving by train.
- By Bus: Several city buses stop near the museum, including lines 9, 10, 14, 19, 27, 34, 37 and 45.
- By Train: If you’re coming from outside Madrid, the Atocha Renfe station is just a 10-minute walk away.
- On Foot or by Bike: The museum is within walking distance of other major landmarks like Retiro Park and Puerta del Sol, making it a great stop during a stroll through central Madrid. There are also public bike stations nearby.
